Why the NeoViking Choice?

My update of Nordic art through tattooing

The Neo-Nordic, or Neo-Viking, represents an artistic movement that I created and which deeply inspires me today because of the freedom it offers. Interestingly, I first experimented with this style early in my tattooing career, only to quickly move away from it. For unknown reasons, I gradually reconnected with this movement until I developed a certain trust in this universe.

At the intersection of illustration, design, and storytelling, this reinvented style of Nordic aesthetics presents a contemporary and personal version. The shapes have a complex and imposing structure, giving the subject an aggressive, decorative, vibrant, and textured look. It embodies a dimension that blends the ancient with the futuristic.

The discovery of interlacing was a key step in this creative process. This style, with codes established for centuries between mythology, history, and divination, presents a complex architecture designed to decorate, worship the gods, protect, share, and gain power. A mysterious force emanates from these elements, reminiscent of the energy found in monoliths, witnesses of distant eras.

The Neo-Nordic style captures the Nordic spirit with a complex structure, curves, and forms that are on the edge of the organic. These tattoos are not just artistic creations, but rather esoteric armors that probe the depths of each individual, revealing a part of their essence to the world. They embody a unique fusion between the mythological past and contemporary times, transforming the body into a living receptacle of deep meanings. These creations aim to transcend the limits of the visual, becoming a symbolic and spiritual extension of those who wear them.

Not being a designer or illustrator, I let myself be guided by the information that allows me to give a new dimension to any element with this unique style, whether it’s a wolf, a serpent, a tree, etc. The feeling I have of being able to translate Nordic culture in this way comes from an update that took place on the higher planes of their beliefs.

My total unfamiliarity with this culture and my limited knowledge of it give me a fresh perspective, that of the artist, on its universe and the knowledge inherent within it. My sensitivity allows me to capture the strength and message behind each element. Honestly, I don’t always know if my choices perfectly align with Viking culture, but once integrated into the client’s request, they take on their full dimension.

What excites me the most is creating a deep connection between the client and a force, whether divine or spiritual. The element I tattoo becomes a second skin, inducing an energetic change, a transformation whose definition still eludes me today. It is essential to remember that all of this happens in the subconscious. The mind is not always strong enough to absorb the power of certain information, so our body is programmed to manage it and avoid any impact on our resources.

When I create, I receive a multitude of information that my brain and body transform into sensations. My subconscious whispers words in my ear, which I then need to interpret with logic and experience.

Thus, I form my intentions by asking questions like, « What design will I create for my client? » These intentions are focused on the person, not on me. In other words, I must understand that the answer should not satisfy me, but the client. As a result, the finished projects do not always match my personal tastes, but they are precisely what the client needed.
